The Indooroopilly house is a family home nestled amongst a dense forest like landscape in inner city Brisbane. The project seeks to reinvigorate the existing dwelling, extending it to open up views to the existing landscape.
The brief was to create a sanctuary amongst the trees that was private from neighbouring dwellings and sheltered from the Western aspect. The existing layout has been retained where possible to create the ‘sleeping quarters’ for the family. The extension houses the kitchen, living, dining and completely opens up to a deck nestled lower amongst the vegetation. The extension opens views to the West sheltered by the existing significant trees and pops out to capture clear northern light - a space for the family to enjoy year round.
